Over care of the hair can be harmful as lack of care.

It is seen that traumatic lesions are precisely what occurs as a result of over care.

The damage thus inflicted to the hair is neither due to lack of nourishment, nor due to any parasite, but solely due to the following:

. too frequent shampooing.

. use of high alkalineshampoo

. brushing with a hard brush.

. too long and too frequent brushing.

. too many bleaching.

. too frequent or incorrect cold perms.

. drying hair at high temperature.

All the above causes can result in any of the conditions as listed below:

1. Trichoptilosis: the hairs are split longitudinally at their end in two or three places, which gives them a feather-like look.

2. Trichorrexhis nodosa : also called as pearl complaint, it causes a disjunction of the cortical cells. The end of the hair appears like a discolored swelling, resembling a pearl. The pearls form weak points in the hair and break if subjected to harsh treatments. ,

3. Trichoclassis: is breaking of the hair and occurs rarely. It can be either the result of a technical error when perming the hair or neglected condition of trichorrexhis nodosa.

Solution of Traumatic Lesions of hair

. Handle the hair as little as possible, it is the best treatment.

. Give the hair adequate rest.

. Give your hair one soft shampoo, based on lipoprotein, fortnightly.

. Do very light hair-setting after the shampoo.

. Give ten strokes of the brush to your hair every day.

. Do not perm or bleach the hair.

. Cut or singe the hair ends, in case of splitting hair.
