The ponytail is often thought of as a casaual kind of style, but if perfect it can see you happily through from dawn to dusk.

1. Wash and dry your hair. You will need clean locks, otherwise oil from the roots will be combed down the hair shaft, making the ponytail look lank. Apply a little shine serum from root to tip to keep frizzy ends under control and create a glossy ‘tail’.
2. Lean your head back and brush all your hair off your face and up towards the top of your head. If you can do this by lying over the edge of the bed you will get an even better result.
3. Leave one small section loose and secure the rest with a tight covered band. Wrap the loose section of hair around the band.
4. Secure the end of the loose section with a hair grip on the underside of the ponytail. The result will be a sophisticated, sleek finish.
